USPS

December 7th, 2009 No Comments

We run an online business and ship our product to thousands of customers each month.  To date, our carrier of choice has been USPS and for the most part they are very reliable, although if it ever makes sense for us to switch to UPS, you can trust that we will in a heartbeat!  Today, a customers’ package was returned to us in this disgusting state; it looks as if it was stomped on to mop up an oil spill or something!!  The funny thing is that it came back to us inside of a plastic bag with the message “WE CARE” from USPS!!  Yeah, I get that you care!!!  In fact, they care so much to apologize and assure us that this is a rare occurrence and that they are improving their processing methods and so on, but they have not offered to refund the postage for what clearly is a mistake by the Post Office.  According to the PO, the package could have been delivered to the customer and damaged at the doorstep and then returned to us, so they have done their job of getting the package to the customer and back to us.  I suppose that is possible, although highly unlikely.  The more than likely scenario is that the Post Office damaged the package as such and the customer refused to accept it in this state.  Either way, we are responsible for the shipment and the crushed contents, which we have already taken action to replace for our customer, but it just doesn’t make much sense to us.  But then again, this is the government at work–why should it make any sense?  So what are your horror stories with the Post Office?

evandalism

April 30th, 2006 6 Comments

The Tower Bridge is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Sacramento and as of late has become a victim of vandalism, or in this case, what I’d like to call evandalism–you know what I’m talking about. It’s not hard to guess who might be responsible for this but I will be one to say that it needs to stop right away. Please do not spread your message on a landmark! On so many levels this is just wrong and does not sit well with me at all. I’m not here to bash Christianity. I do recognize that it is not a religion that stuck the “Jesus is Lord” and “Hallelujah” stickers to the Tower Bridge and surrounding area but most likely a group of young, naive kids out to do “good.” Good deeds and effectiveness, well, that’s definitely something that is open to interpretation but from my perspective I cannot get past the weirdness of it all. “Jesus is Lord” and “The Prince of Peace is Lord” stickers all over the place–that’s just weird!!! ;) For the record, if the message were of political nature or a local band advertising themselves I would feel no different (so please no religious debates on my blog.) Bottom line, public property is not to be destructed. Thank you very much.

So taking a step back from the heaviness of the topic, everybody does react differently to things like this and I must say that my reaction included a lot of laughter and wondering what the hell these people were thinking. Vandals for Jesus? Hmm… So anyway, enjoy the message and feel free to share your thoughts.

By the way, the cost of painting the Tower Bridge is estimated at $3.5 million.

This Week Revisted

Finally, a day without rain.

A long overdue party.

A clean shave.

Rice showers.

Time to play with water.

And a message.
